Knowing when it is time to step away

Do you find stepping away and making decisions that will change the landscape of your future easy? Or do you struggle believing that staying in your comfort zone is the easier option and therefore the decision you take.

I am not sure if you have noticed or seen me talking about it but in August when I marked fifteen years of my business Awaken I took the decision to retire it. I, myself am not retiring as I stepped out of my comfort zone to launch myself out on to more platforms as a speaker and a writer.

In the run up to me making the announcements I was a tad stressed, hiding behind Awaken had become the norm following my corporate burnout however having gone through another episode of burnout recently I realised that whilst the first one had bought about change as in the launch of Awaken, the second one was also the catalyst for change.

I took some time to speak with some of my mentors who all urged and supported me to make the change that was needed, the change that would indeed benefit me and my well-being.

The benefits came from stepping back from several services I offered, re-aligning some of the others, as in Awaken events will continue and making decisions that would afford me time which after all is our valuable asset. I have looked at how I use this asset and planned my time doing things I love including having more time with family and friends, after all if something no longer gives you joy it is indeed time to let go.

I feel lighter, confident and truly focussed on my well-being in the knowledge that my gut feeling led me to step out of my comfort zone and into a zone of joy where I can continue to help others while making memories to carry forward.

So, today what decision are you struggling with? Take some time out to re-evaluate what brings you joy, if something doesn’t then maybe it is time to let it go.
